Not far from steaming Gainesville, Florida, find solace on these hot, sticky August days on the Santa Fe River at the Ichetucknee confluence.
I emit that accustomed "ahhh," when I approache the Ichetucknee with my coffee cup these early mornings. Despite that feeling that summer will never end, I feel relief when I see a white mist hoverning above the Santa Fe and the Ichetucknee Rivers these August mornings.
Along with shredded pine cones squirrels drop onto my Gainesville patio, when I see the mist on the rivers, I have confirmation, that YES, indeed, cooler weather approaches.
I sit with my coffee, sipping before my morning plunge into those 70 degree springs the Ichetucknee provides, ever constantly flowing, bringing with it hope and joy. "It's paradise," I hear those who come later in the day proclaim, but it's Eden alone there in the misty morning.
Soon school starts, vacationers depart, and we...the otter, hawk, owl, manatee, and I alone inhabit the mist shrouded rivers.
Come see. You'll be surprised.
