Articles Lodging on the Santa Fe River, Alachua County, Florida

02

August is perfect for cooling off in the Santa Fe River only 38 miles from Gainesville and less miles from Lake City.  Almost nothing beats snorkeling or swimming in the cool Ichetucknee River...unless it's hydrobiking on the Santa Fe.

Before the children re enter school, make sure you visit one or all of our three rivers.

We invite you to stay at either the treehouse or the historic cabin.

Summer is hot, and if you live in Florida, you know about mold, mosquitoes, rainy afternoons, and hot, sticky nights.  So, don't be surprised when you read articles about our treehouse.  No one can guarantee weather, insect noise levels, or animal whereabouts.

What we want to offer to our guests is the Real Florida. Some of you might be newcomers, and maybe you think all Florida is Disneyworld and is air conditioned.  Maybe you think all toilets are flush ones, or that by some miracle, a screened room is not humid.  Many of you might not know about wells or how heavy it is to carry water.

Because of summer conditions, we have removed the carpet, pillows, and will not provide sheets.  Maybe they will be moldy by the time you arrive.  So, when you visit us during these moist months, bring what you need for sleeping.  We still have the mats and matress on a queen futon.

Don't come with false expectations, but read carefully all the notes about staying in a treehouse in the woods.

We love the real Florida...but it's not for everyone.
